HOW TO GIVE BACK THIS HOLIDAY SEASON IN THE SAN ANTONIO AREA
The countdown to the holidays has begun, and there is no better time to get involved and give back to those in need. Here are a few ways you can pay it forward in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
Since 1903, Family Service has been supporting, strengthening, and serving San Antonio and surrounding communities. Family Service offers a broad range of programs and services to help people on their life journey. They work to help people where they are today and meet their goals. They address the social determinants of health to address the opportunities and barriers in people’s lives created by where they live, learn, work, play, and age that affects their overall well-being. They have a myriad of programs and opportunities to volunteer and donate. You can learn more about giving back here.
Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries
Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries (HCDBM) is a Regional Resource Center located in Boerne, Texas. They have been helping transform the lives of our neighbors in poverty for the past 18 years. They have done so in collaboration with churches, agencies, sponsors, and ordinary people who know firsthand that each of us has the power to help change a life. Their process is designed to foster long-term, meaningful relationships between people in need and people called to help. You can learn more about volunteer opportunities here.
Founded in 1980, the San Antonio Food Bank has quickly grown to serve 120,000 individuals a week in one of the largest service areas in Southwest Texas. They focus on clients having access to food for today and having the resources to be self-sufficient in the future. Fighting hunger is their number one priority, but they also educate and provide assistance in many other ways. They achieve this through a variety of programs and resources available to families, individuals, seniors, children, and military members in need. No matter how you choose to get involved in your community, your time and effort are what make the holidays so special. We wish you all a happy and safe holiday season!
